I keep getting targeted by this ad for some game where you’re a homeowner and there’s a million emergencies happening at once. The game is all cheerful like "What do you want to fix first?" as the faucet's exploding water everywhere, the oven's on fire, the fridge door swings wildly on one hinge, the rats shove the cat into the oven.
First of all, this sounds like the most stressful game ever. Even watching the ad stresses me out. (Okay even talking about watching the ad. 😱)
Secondly — this what-to-fix-first-when-everything’s-on-fire dynamic is suuuper relatable to any stepparent living in high conflict, which can feel like a never-ending disaster train. When there’s seemingly no end in sight, where do you even start to minimize the damage caused by that conflict?
