We all have a picture in our heads of "should" — what our stepfamily life should feel or look like, how our stepkids or our partners should act, what a good stepparent should (or shouldn't) do. And we think if real life doesn't line up with that picture, we're failing or falling short or messing something up.
But really, lining up with that picture in our heads isn't the true goal.
Improvement is the goal.
As long as we're improving (aka, headed in the right direction), we're succeeding. And it’s really, really important to remember that. To be thankful for forward motion in a positive direction, no matter how glacial the pace.
TODAY'S PROMPT:
Think of 3 things that are better in your blended family than they were a year or 2 ago, and include those on your daily gratitude list tonight. (Remember, even teensy tiny improvements count!)
