When there’s already conflict between co-parents, holiday stress can seriously kick that drama up to whole new levels of yuck. Which I guess is hardly a surprise, considering how messy regular ol’ daily life is in a blended family.

I get so many emails and DMs this time of year with heartbreaking stories about horrible co-parents using the holidays as yet another reason to pick fights — yet another excuse to withhold visitation.

I also notice a jump in guilt-trippy posts on social media talking about how “co-parents really all need to work together" over the holidays and “put the kids first.”

Translation: Once again, it's on us — the people who are capable of being the bigger people — to be the bigger people.
